SkillUp Parents — v5 interactive prototype

For the review panel. This is a design prototype (fictional content, no real data collected). Start at the landing and play a full journey. Two things to test deliberately: ① answer the three teen-scenario questions differently on separate runs — the profile, the panel's reads, the stance, the plan, and every nightly move re-shape; ② at the Saturday session, answer "worse" once — watch the panel rotate the lead. The brief you received describes what each screen encodes; §10's questions apply here.

SkillUp · for parents

Whether it's the slammed door — or the kid who can't find their people — you don't have to figure it out alone.

Parenting science has three real schools: meet the feeling, rebuild the habits, solve the problem together. Most advice sells you one. Your coach blends all three around your kid — while your teen builds the same skills on their side, privately.

A few questions — the same ones I'd ask across a kitchen table. Then my panel reads your situation and I build the plan. First: where do I keep your notes?

Your answers stay between you and your coach. Your teen never sees them — and you never see their private work.

The three schools
💙 Emotion

Meet the feeling first

Gottman's emotion coaching. The feeling under the behavior is real even when the behavior isn't okay — and a flooded teen can't hear a lesson. Strongest evidence in younger kids; in teens it's a strong link, not proven cause. We tell you that honestly.

📐 Structure

Change what the behavior earns

Behavioral parent training — the most-studied school there is. Behavior that repeats is behavior that pays off. Small and steady beats big and loud. Strongest up to ~14; thinner deep in the teen years.

🔍 Problem-Solver

Kids do well if they can

Ross Greene's collaborative solutions. A blow-up is a missing skill meeting an expectation, not a kid choosing to be difficult. Solve the recurring problem together, ahead of time. No rewards, no imposed punishments.

None of this is therapy, and none of it runs during a crisis — that's what the pinned line below is for.

Breathe. Here's the read, and here's tonight. That's all we need right now.
The read

A slammed door is the end of their capacity, not a verdict on you.

Tonight — do

Wait 20 minutes. Then one low-stakes offer: a snack, a ride, silence together. Presence, not a conversation.

Tonight — say (if anything)
"I'm around if you want me."

The functional core: parent profile × teen type × your instinct × your goal → the plan. The panel reads the kid out loud (knowledge), one school leads each week (control), your instinct is used rather than shamed, the map always answers "where am I and where are we going," and Saturday sessions rotate the lead when the data says so. Design prototype — fictional content, nothing you enter is stored or transmitted.
